Year End Clearance

I bet you thought this entry was in regards to some store hawking their goods right?

What this is about is you clearing out unwanted emails

As you may know, not all email is spam!  Some email comes your way from various places.  Example: when I recently moved I was getting mail from seemingly every corner of the globe; and im not just talking about email. All of which I was glad to receive as it provided ideas how to fix up my little corner of this place called Earth.

Now you know that companies X, Y,and Z will send mail for a limited time. And to cut their losses they will discontinue sending you their material out of cost cutting measures. That is how they operate using the postal system.

Email is different. To companies X,Y and Z email is a freebie. Thus, they have nothing to lose as long as you or your email provider does not declare it as spam. To stop getting email from just about any company look down at the bottom of their email. In very small print you ought to see the word, “unsubscribe.”   Click on that word and you should no longer receive that companies email within a weeks time. If after seven working days you continue to receive their material then you can classify it as spam.

Just how often does yours truly clean up his email ? Normally, it comes down to twice a year. But I make sure its done in the last two weeks in December, mostly because I like to have a clean slate going into January.

Word to the wise

I maintain three mail accounts: one for my friends, my Gmail account for 98% of Google related material and my third strictly for business which gets a once over before deleting. How many email accounts should you have? The answer is simple; whatever you are comfortable with. If you can handle only one that’s okay too.

I now return you to your favorite shopping location.

Never do the following #1 never give anyone you work with your personal email address, not even your  boss! Give them a different email address. #2 Never give out your password(s) not even to your spouse, family members and so forth.

See you in 2015

happy new year 003

ITs Not Just A Summer Sport} Photography

One of my favorite hobbies is photography. There is nothing that I know of can capture a point in time and hold it for eternity.

Back in the 1970’s I took a course in photography and fell in love with it. Back then there was no such thing as a digital point and shoot cameras. Back then everything was recorded on film. And so the class instructor showed us how to develop film out of a common cereal bowl. Of course you would not want to eat out of that bowl afterwards but the point was made.

There is a common misconception with people who own cameras. That being you can only take pictures in the summer or when the weather is decent. However, photography is not a summer sport. Allow me to explain: if you take the right precautions you can take really nice pictures of winter time fun and scenery.

Here are  some tricks in brief format:

  • Its all about timing and temperatures.  If you are going to be outside keep the camera in a warm place such as a shirt pocket where its close to receiving heat from our own body.  Having it in a coat pocket just does not keep it as warm as it should be.
  • Never leave your camera in the car regardless what time of year it is. Cars et both very hot or very cold and the moving parts in the camera are not meant to tolerate such extremes.
  • Before you leave the house make sure your battery in the camera is fully charged. The most frustrating thing is having a dead battery when your about to take a shot.
  • If and when possible remove old pictures from the camera. This will give you more digital room you may need, more so if your at an event like a parade, auto show and so forth. If possible take an extra SD card with you in case you  do do overshoot your limit.
  • Plan ahead. So your going outside in the cold and snow and so forth so you should plan ahead what kind of pictures you want. If your looking for winter time scenery then look for things that catch your eye. If your taking pictures of people allow them to be themself. Case in point: if they are skiing or sledding don’t ask them to stop learn how to pan a shot.
  • Learn for others.  Most libraries have a magazine section and should have such about photography.   When you look at a picture  study it out. See if you can tell how they took the shot. Then ask yourself if you could do the same.
  • Editing. many cameras have some sort of built in software where you can edit the picture in the camera. While this is a nice feature it is better to edit it on your computer where your not in a hurry. When editing always keep the original picture on file. You will keep the original as proof that you took it and you may want to crop parts of it out to use for creating a website.

This long holiday you can have all kinds of fun both indoors and yes even outside with your camera. Just remember that your camera is not human and needs to taken care of regardless of the season. After all photography is not just a summer sport.

Was the above helpful? Informative? There is so much to learn about the art of photoraphy that really the above just does not do it justice. Thus I recommend you pick up a book from your local library or from your favorite book store and learn a little bit of the does and don’t s of this fine art.

Look Who is Back

I am truly sorry I have not been around for the last few months. Much of that is highly due to my housing situation. At one point I was forced to either live out of my car or stay with a friend. In either case my only access to the world wide web was through my LG smart phone.

At present I am renting a room from my friend who has a house in Pontiac Michigan. Lord willing and the river does not rise I should be here until at least February or March of next year. Or until I am moved into my very first house of my own.

In previous blogs I made mention of decorating a website to fit the holidays such as Thanksgiving and Christmas. I was unable to do this as having even a smartphone has its limitations. And the ability to use html coding is one of them.

Now at least you, the reader have something to read and there will be more to come. Simply give me time to et use to being back on the world wide web and I shall inform you of perhaps some interesting tales. And those tales are up and coming I can insure you of that.

Thanks a bunch for your understanding  and I will pen more soon

Almost Here(aka end of the year website tip)

Okay, here you and me are here stuck on this place called Earth. Proceeding further we are finding our-self drawing closer and closer to the last few major holidays left in this year. So what does one do if s/he has a website? So in this writing I will attempt to show you what could be done to your website, whether it be a personal or business site. Certain things ought to be done.

September 2013 } search for royalty free holiday graphics. This can be done starting with the search engine Bing. As you search for graphics save what you like onto your computer. While doing so create various folders for what the graphic will be used for such as banners, backgrounds and so forth.

October 2013 } create a practice website in your html editor. Create different looks, textures that make you feel right. If you find your going to use tables then practice with various looks and layouts. If you do not have an html editor you should be able to find one or two at

Early November 2013 } by now you should have two maybe three designs for your holiday website. Now you get to choose which one you will start the holidays with. Keep this in mind your website needs to come up within 5-10 seconds, this is critical. Any loner than 10 seconds you could find your visitors moving onward. If you live in the USA then you should have a website that celebrates Thanksgiving for the month of November and in December one that has a Christmas look and feel.

Early December 2013 } your Christmas themed site should be up by really no later than the 15th of the month and running until December 26th. Then and only then you have the option of doing a New Years themed website.

Early January 2014 } If you created a New Years themed website then you could leave it up and running until January 3rd  or the fifth at the latest. After the holidays you can return your website back to its original look and feel if you so choose or you may want to recreate the website with a new look and feel for  the first 3-6 months of the new year.

Some graphics to help you get started with your search

Christmas graphics etc etc/

I hope that this entry will serve you well in the months ahead. Have a great day!

What It Is Like

What you are about to read refers only to yours truly. What others with disabilities go through may or may not be different. Thus, this is my story. If you have reservations about people with disabilities or those who have to live using Food Stamps then i suggest you move onward to another entry.

For ages I enjoyed working. It was fun and often times rewarding. I started out working as a dishwasher way back in 1968 and moved up over the years as a head cook. At one point I was head cook working in two restaurants; one was on the graveyard ship the other during the day. After twenty-five years of cooking I had enough and chose to move onward in my career. In time I worked at a newspaper as both a Customer Service Rep as well as a Dispatcher.

After I took a change in jobs my health took a turn that I never wanted; I lost my eyesight, I learned I had arthritis and to top it off even COPD. For the most part I was a mess and even the sports and things I enjoyed slowly began to slip out of my fingers. Thus, no more bowling, no more bicycle riding, no hiking, no more reading for long periods of time and yes no more working out at the gym.

I went from working to put food on the table seven days a week to having to rely on Food Stamps. The doctors I seen told me I could never work again and I was to take it easy the best i knew how. I had to learn how to go from three meals a day to only one as they cut my Food Stamp allowance down more and more. Sometimes there is not enough food in the house to last the entire month so I have to cut my meals down even further.

Yet, I have hope for a better tomorrow as I live my life for the very same God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. It pleases me to praying-hands_thumb.jpginform you that during these days it is a real joy to go into nursing homes or into prisons and give even the “least of these” the hope they richly need. You may say well it don’t look like God has done much for you.” But I can point to a scripture in the book of Acts where it talks about “many infallible proofs.” Acts 1:3  And I can tell you without any doubt that through it all I have seen God’s hand at work even in the darkest of times. When there was no food or money, God came through in the nick of time. When I nearly lost my life in a car accident it was God who seen me through and rescued me.

What is it like for me to be disabled and not able to ever work again? For the life of me I would love to o back to work! But God who is rich in mercy had a different plan and I love working for the Master.  Is it rough living on Food Stamps? Indeed it is! The days of steak and lobster per se are in the past and so I learned to enjoy a simple peanut butter and jelly sandwich.

I love telling people about the Lord Jesus because I tell them what HE has done for me and what HE can do for them. So in brief you know a little about yours truly. It is perhaps not a pretty story. But what took place on that cross some two thousand years was far worse. And HE did it all for you.

I hope you have enjoyed this entry as it was most difficult for yours truly to put pen to paper.

Yours in the faith and knowledge of Jesus

New Start for 2013?

Yes Christmas  is tomorrow and 2013 is only 8 days away. Thus, would it be nice if YOU could start the new year “Born Again.” Yes you can start the new year out right and proper.

If after you read the following  decide to choose the right road please feel free to  do the following:

#1 please let me know by sending me an email  @  then #2 begin attending a good Bible believing church in your area to help you on your journey.

Now will you please read the following and take your trip down
Romans Road

The ROMANS ROAD….is a pathway you can walk.

It is a group of Bible verses from the book of Romans in the New Testament. If you walk down this road you will end up understanding how to be saved.

Romans 3:23 “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.”

We all have sin in our hearts. We all were born with sin.

We were born under the power of sin’s control.

– Admit that you are a sinner.

Romans 6:23a “…The wages of sin is death…”

Sin has an ending. It results in death. We all face physical death, which is a result of sin. But a worse death is spiritual death that alienates us from God, and will last for all eternity. The Bible teaches that there is a place called the Lake of Fire where lost people will be in torment forever. It is the place where people who are spiritually dead will remain.

– Understand that you deserve death for your sin.

Romans 6:23b “…But the gift of God is eternal

life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”

Salvation is a free gift from God to you! You can’t

earn this gift, but you must reach out and receive it.

– Ask God to forgive you and save you.

Romans 5:8, “God demonstrates His own love for us, in

that while we were yet sinners Christ died for us!”

When Jesus died on the cross He paid sin’s penalty. He paid the price for all sin, and when He took all the sins of the world on Himself on the cross, He bought us out of slavery to sin and death! The only condition is that we believe in Him and what He has done for us, understanding that we are now joined with Him, and that He is our life. He did all this because He loved us and gave Himself for us!

– Give your life to God… His love poured out in Jesus on the cross is your only hope to have forgiveness and change. His love bought you out of being a slave to sin. His love is what saves you — not religion, or church membership. God loves you!

Romans 10:13 “Whoever will call on the name of the Lord will be saved!”

– Call out to God in the name of Jesus!

Romans 10:9,10 “…If you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Jesus from the dead, you shall be saved; for with the heart man believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation.”

– If you know that God is knocking on your heart’s door,

ask Him to come into your heart.

Jesus said,

Revelation 3:20a “Behold I stand at the door and knock, if anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him…”

– Is Jesus knocking on your heart’s door?

Believe in Him.

Ask Him to come in to your heart by faith,

and ask Him to reveal Himself to you.

Open the Bible to the Gospel of John and read what God says about Jesus,

about you, and about being born again.

God will help you. He loves you.

You need to look for a local church where

God’s word is preached. The Bible says that we are to desire

God’s word like a newborn baby desires mother’s milk.

Aren’t you hungry to know the truth?

Water baptism is one of the ways you first show that

you have been joined to Jesus. This is an action, and actions will not save you. However, it is an act of obedience and a symbol of commitment.

The symbolism is this:

When you go down in the water you show that

You have been crucified and buried with Him,

And when you come up out of the water you show that

you have been raised to walk with Him in newness of life.

(See Romans chapter 6)

You have been born again.

(See John chapter 3)

Your body has become God’s temple.

Your heart is where He lives.

Forgiveness is yours in Jesus.

And you belong to Him.

You were sin’s slave.

But now…

You are a child of GOD!

John 1:12

“As many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe in His name!”

Website Tip

As you know this year I have penned several website tips mostly for the Newbies. As the days pasted by I even shared with you when the best time to create a holiday website and when to change it over from a Thanksgiving theme to a Christmas theme. I hope those suggestions served you well and you have filed those tips away for another year.

One thing I may have failed to mention is when to take down a Christmas themed website or page. So allow me to share this tip with you here and now’: If you created a Christmas themed site for possible more traffic to sell things I would have to say that any time within 2-3 days prior to the actual holiday would be fine. This allows you ample time to revert the page/site back to its former self with perhaps even some improvements.

Allow me to explain: for 2012  Thunder Mall had a nice Christmas theme going for it. Nothing fancy just enough to allow the visitor to get into the Christmas spirit. During the days of the themed site I got the chance to improve the site using Front Page 2003 trying out new looks and even dropping some ideas that just did not work out in the long run. Now Thunder Mall seems to look cleaner and far more focused. By making improvements that I seem to like the hope is that more people will use and recommend the site.

Not only did the improvements  work well I also  put a copy of Thunder Mall on a page in Thunderdome Ministries website. Thus, if you are reading this then you could  directed to either of the locations for Thunder Mall as follows:

  1. Thunder Mall at Littlethunders Bio website
  2. Thunder Mall at Thunderdome Ministries website

Here is an important key to remember as we all begin the road towards a new year:  when building and maintaining a website it is important not just how you present the site during the year but how well you finish up a year. You do not want to ever lose visitors at the end of any year. If you lose them at the end of a year you very well may not get them back in the following year.

Keep your website and its pages as clean and neat as possible at all times. Putting to much material on a website very well could make it look like your local junk yard, and you do not want that to transpire. If ever in doubt as to how much to put on your website and its pages then go explore other peoples website, mostly business sites if your website is business related.

In closing allow yours truly to leave you with a few more graphics  for your use.
